After saying goodbye to his character Park Sae Ro Yi in the JTBC hit series Itaewon Class. Park Seo Joon is preparing for his next project. According to Korean entertainment and news site Soompi and AllKpop, the actor is currently in talks to star in an upcoming drama with a working title “Mount Jiri”.
Mount Jiri is written by Kim Eun Hee who is also known for writing “Ghost”, “Signal” and two seasons of Netflix hit series “Kingdom”. Should the project happen, Park Seo Joon will play the role of national park ranger Kang Hyun Jo who saves people who feel lost and suicidal while dealing with hallucinations connected with the mystery and secrets of Mount Jiri. Jun Ji-Hyun will be his confidante and will play the role of Seo Yi Kang. The two will travel in Mount Jiri and help rescue as many people as possible. If released, this will be considered a major comeback for Jun Ji-Hyun after 3 years.
Lee Eung Bok who is known for his work in Goblin, Descendants of the Sun and Mr. Sunshine is tapped as director for the new Korean drama.
Fans expect the shooting dates to be moved, as more Korean celebrities are opting to self-quarantine due to COVID-19.
TV and film production of South Korea is struggling to sustain production amidst COVID-19 concerns. The industry is submitting itself to losses due to shooting schedule cancellations and activities being held back. But if the number of COVID-19 patients decreases, the new Korean drama series is projected to be released early 2021.
